I do like the way that some tunes get remade over and over, it happens a lot with Jamaican music with many different versions of the same riddim. Anyway here's the start of my selections of remakes and versions of the same song, starting off with Night Owl.

A selection of soul, early and new funk for starters, here’s the blurb (and shameless product placing advertising) for those of you that read this stuff.

Track 2, is from the superb funk compilation Super Funk on the beat goes public label. Check it out, or even buy it at http://www.acerecords.co.uk.

Track 3, is off a (bootleg?) cd someone sent me entitled ‘uptight ...new sensational northern soul compilation’ where it’s from and who compiled it would be nice to know.

Track 4, the fabulous Big Ella, this track is taken from a compilation by jazzman records, Sister Funk 2 (the sounds of the unknown soul sisters). It can be got from Amazon or you could try here https://www.jazzmanrecords.co.uk

Track 5, 6 and 12, are both taken from Sister Funk 1 (you can see how much I rate this cd having put 3 tracks from it on here)

Track 7, has been lifted from an excellent compilation of solid funk tunes entitled, Funk 'n Roll - A Collection Of 70's Rare Funky Trips (http://www.dustygroove.com)

Track 8, is from Preston Love's Omaha Bar-B-Q on the beat goes public label, Amazon is the place for this gem.

Tracks 9, 10 and 11, are from another brilliant compilation Ghetto Funk (15 Rare & Classic Ghetto Vibe Tunes) dunno where you’d get it from should you want to buy it. (another compilation i rate highly)

Track 13, is a 45, WESTBOUND 165

Track 14, is taken from SuperFunk - Rare Funk From Deep In The Crates which you can get from here should you wish to (i’d recommend it) http://www.dustygroove.com

Track 15, don’t know where it’s from, except that it’s on a compilation a friend did for me.
